Rolling in the Recruits

A few weeks back I gave you all a Wisconsin Badgers recruiting update before UW was set to host the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Badgers went on to beat the top-ranked Buckeyes and beat a tough Iowa Hawkeyes team the following week. The success on the field for Bret Bielema’s Badgers has immediately payed dividends off the field on the recruiting trail.
In the past couple weeks the Badgers have had five very important verbal commitments for the 2011 class. Following the OSU game, Bielema received commitments from running back/fullback Trayion Durham and offensive tackle Ray Ball. Durham, considered one of the top fullback’s in the nation chose the Badgers over Cincinnati, Louisville and Boston College. Ball, who is listed at 6’7″, 325 pounds picked UW over the likes of Michigan, UCLA and Indiana.
The third recruit to pick the Badgers over the past few weeks is highly-regarded wide receiver A.J. Jordan from Ohio. Jordan is considered a 4-star prospect who narrowed his final two down to Wisconsin and Michigan before selecting UW as his future home. Jordan is listed at 6’2″, 170 pounds and is a burner on the field.
Lastly, UW got verbal commitments from a pair of defensive ends over the weekend as James Adeyanju and Jesse Hayes both picked Wisconsin. Adeyanju, a Chicago native had over 20 division-one offers. Listed at 6’2″, 250 pounds, Adeyanju picked UW over the likes of Nebraska, Michigan State, Northwestern and Illinois. Hayes, is a physical specimen listed at 6’4″, 230 pounds visited UW for the Minnesota game a few weeks back and came away impressed. Ultimately, Hayes picked Wisconsin over Nebraska and Florida State, among others.
If the Badgers continue to have success on the field and make a run at a Rose Bowl berth, expect the recruits to keep coming. As of now, Bielema has 18 verbal commitments for 2011 class. Three very important players Bielema would love to have is the Florida trio of Nick O’Leary, Jacoby Brissett and Curt Maggitt. The three visited for the Ohio State game and came away impressed and the Badgers are believed to be very high on all three players’ lists.
