Fantasy Week 8 Roundup

Posted By David Willow On Nov 2 2010 @ 3:18 pm In Fantasy | No Comments

It was an eventful week 8 in fantasy land. Those of you keeping faith Megatron, Calvin Johnson, had to have been elated to see him haul in 3 TDs as Matthew Stafford’s prime target in the red zone. Those with Dallas players should be seeking out back up options, though the team looks like they may be decent in fantasy production even with Jon Kitna at the helm, a bad effort against a bad Jaguars defense is disturbing. A tough but probably expected week for the Packers and Aaron Rodgers specifically, left a bad taste in some owners mouths. We also had a few injuries and some emerging fantasy options that may effect your fantasy playoffs. A surprising cut in Minnesota, with Randy Moss cut from the team may leave him up in the air for next week, but owners shouldn’t panic as Moss will not clear waivers, though if he does a team will swiftly snatch him up.

He are this week’s must pick ups.

LeGarrette Blount – If you didn’t pick him up last week, and your lucky enough to still have him on waivers grab him now. Blount earned himself a bulk of the carries for perhaps the rest of the season running for 120 yards and 2 TDs. He will likely remain the goal line option and the Bucs may feature Blount. After going undrafted in the NFL and most fantasy leagues he is now a must have on all rosters. His fantasy playoff weeks are Washingtin, Detroit, and Seattle (New Orleans week 17 for those who’s playoffs go to the end of the season).

Jacob Tamme – Tamme is filling in for the injured Dallas Clark and looks like he will receive all the passed intended for Clark. There was some debate on whether the Colts would keep the tight end position as active in the game. With 6 receptions for 64 yards and a TD, it’s pretty clear Tamme will be a valuable commodity and in the Colts offense will excel regardless of talent. His fantasy playoff schedule is Tennessee, Jacksonville, and Oakland (with Tennessee again for those in week 17).

BenJarvis Green-Ellis – The Patriots haven’t had a running back they would stick with for years now, but Green-Ellis looks like he may get that opportunity, after a 17 carry, 112 yard effort topped by 2 TDs. He is available in 43% of leagues currently. Grab him if you have space.

Keiland Williams – With uncertainty at the running back spot, after Ryan Torain was hobbled by a hamstring in jury, Williams will be the main back in Washington. He will be a good pick up if it’s determined that Torain can’t come back after the bye week, but probably best as a handcuff right now.

Robert Meacham – A lot of owners have given up on Meacham, but he is slowly being edged back into the starting line up over Devery Henderson and quickly becoming highly targeted by Drew Brees. That’s not to say that he is Brees’ favorite target, as he truly doesn’t have one, but he is showing a possibility at a late season run like he had last season. Keep and eye out. He is available in 47% of leagues.
