Boise State vs Hawaii Preview

Boise State (7-0) has its hands full this weekend as it takes on Hawaii, (7-2) in their first true WAC test of the season.  Hawaii comes in looking to spoil the Bronco’s BCS aspirations, who continue to roll through their WAC schedule.  In last week’s game against Idaho, Hawaii looked as though they were one of the best teams in the country. Quarterback Bryant Moniz had another solid outing, throwing for 326 yards and three touchdowns. He also became the first quarterback this season to surpass the 3,000 yard mark. Boise State will be coming into the game from a weekend off, having just played a Tuesday night game against Louisiana Tech. While Boise State did have some struggles defending the Air Raid offense of Louisiana Tech, they did play solid throughout and came away with the victory.

Hawaii comes in with one of the most dangerous offenses in all the country. Quarterback Bryant Moniz has so far had the season of a lifetime, throwing for 3247 yards and 25 touchdowns.  He looks to set the tone for Hawaii this weekend, as they try to pull off a miracle and win in Bronco Stadium.  Boise State must understand that they will not be able to fully stop Moniz.  In order for them to be successful they must limit the number of big plays and force a few turnovers. This will help keep points off the board, and in turn lead to another Bronco victory.

Quarterback Kellen Moore looks to have another solid day as he goes against a suspect Hawaii defense.  Against USC, Hawaii was not able to contain quarterback Matt Barkley, who passed for 5 touchdowns in that game. Boise State must use a good combination of the run and pass if they want to win this game. Running back Doug Martin must continue his success this weekend because he will be the key for a Boise State victory. The key to keep Hawaii from throwing all over the field is to have a higher time of possession then the Warriors. The Broncos must give the ball off to Doug Martin, who will set the pace for Boise State’s offense and chew up valuable time.

While Hawaii presents many weapons that will challenge Boise State, it’s a fact that nobody wins in Bronco Stadium. Once again, Boise State will come out strong and fast as they go 8-0 with a 54-32 victory over the Warriors.
