Double OT Win puts Jazz at .500

If you have been following this blog so far this season, you are aware of my expectations of the Jazz. Well after 6 games, Utah is 3-3 and 1.5 games back in the division. It’s not exactly a blazing start, but as I have mentioned many times before I am content with my prediction. Now, back to last nights game where the Jazz rallied from an 18 point deficit and won in double overtime!!
The game was against the Clippers, some of you are probably thinking this guy is insane by boasting about a win against the Clippers. Well these Clippers aren’t as bad as past Clippers teams have been in the past. Yes their record is 1-6, but most of their games have been extremely close. If you ask me, I think they will get better over time as Eric Bledsoe grows into a solid NBA point guard. They also have Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon is an extremely gifted scoring combo guard. Blake Griffin, well you know what you get with this kid. He is all hustle all the time in one of the scariest packages of athleticism the league has ever seen at the forward position. Don’t forget newly minted All Star center Chris Kaman, the Clippers are definitely not as bad as their record suggests. The Clippers went up early by scoring 35 points in the 1st quarter, the 1st!! The Jazz didn’t make their big move back into the game until the 3rd quarter where they outscored LA, 31-18. Deron Williams finished with 30 points,8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. What was most impressive about this stat line was WHEN he scored his 30 points, Williams poured in 22 of those 30 after halftime!! Eric Gordon finished with 27 points and 5 assists, Blake Griffin finished with 16 points and 17 rebounds! Paul Millsap has been KILLING this year, he finished last night’s game with 25 points and 13 rebounds. The centers on both teams did work as well: Al Jefferson 18 points 10 rebounds 3 blocks Chris Kaman 23 points 7 rebounds 4 blocks. This game was extremely close down the stretch and in both overtime periods. The Clippers won on a layup by Deron Williams with 6.8 seconds left in the 2nd overtime!! I think the Jazz are a little like the Heat in the respect that it’s going to take time for the new pieces to synchronize. What do you think of the Jazz so far this season??
