Last year it seemed like the Spurs were every teams’ first win of the season. This year, three teams Pacers, Clippers and the Rockets have had that chance. They have failed. This Spurs team is not gonna just give you a game this year. Nope. You’re gonna have to take it.
The fight I saw in them last night was something that wasn’t there a season ago. When a teams top players are out the Spurs would relax and give that game away. Not last night.
With Ming out because they won’t play him on back to back nights, the Spurs jumped on the Rockets. Then they let the Rockets back in. If you didn’t see the game, the Spurs would’ve blown Houston out if their defense was better but the offense is rolling so I’ll just live with it for now.
If i told you that Ming wasn’t playing, Brooks would get hurt right before halftime and Martin would go done in the second half, you would think the Spurs would be cruising right? Wrong again. Props to the Rockets bench, they played their guts out. The Spurs BIG 3 (the real big 3) got the Surs into overtime and once in overtime TP9 took over.
Yeah I said it, TP9, screw Chris Paul he has to win a ring first. TP9′s steal on Hayes was sweet. TP9 is so fast, Hayes didn’t see him coming. The Spurs pulled out aa tough win but the point is, that last year the Spurs wouldn’t have won that game. RJ (RJ24 looks weird) looks like the old RJ. His three’s are so pure, they hardly touch the net. His aggresiveness is whats most important. Driving to the basket, getting to the line. It’s huge going forward.
RJ was 4-5 from three and finished with 22pts. Manu led the Spurs with 28pts but TP9′s 14 ast were huge. It would be nice if his assist numbers were around ten all year. He dosen’t have to be Rondo, if anyone can.
Timmy chipped in with 19pts. Two guys I have to write about are Goerge and Antonio. Antonio came off the bench played as if he were a starter. 11pts 10 reb for Antonio. Goerge, in his first game since getting hurt against the Clippers, had a solid game with 10pts.
Tomorrow the Spurs are on the road to play the Bobcats who are struggling thus far at 1-5. Again last year this was a team the Spurs were supposed to beat but didn’t, so lets see if they can keep this new attitude goin.
GO SPURS GO.
