Peyton Hillis deserves to go to the Pro Bowl.
It’s may not be so bold to predict, it’s may not be so emphatic to debate, but one constant remains that everyone can agree on: it’s absolutely necessary.
Listen, the 3-5 Browns may have taken down Goliath (twice) in the Saints and the Patriots, but that’s not enough for this, still, last-place organization to feel respected by the outside 31 teams, let alone the other three in their AFC North division.
Hillis going to Hawaii certainly would buoy that feeling.
Of the 19 starting running backs in the NFL this season that have over 100 carries thus far, Hillis is one of five that averages over 4.8 yards per carry or higher while his seven touchdowns rank him 3rd in the league (one behind Adrian Peterson and two behind Arian Foster, who you know are both picking out their Hawaiian shirts already).
Being traded even before the season began for Brady Quinn — oh the irony of under and overrated between these two players — Hillis has been playing like there’s a rather large mountainous chip residing on his shoulder. Well, for the 6-foot-1, 240-pound Hillis that climb over Everest is beginning to reach the summit.
Remember, Cleveland is still hungover from LeBron James skipping out on the tab. Their NBA hopes are now relegated back to the likes of hearing “Jordan over Elo…good!” As for the Indians injecting any sort of inspiration into the veins of fans? Come on, man.
NFL, just do me a favor: send Hillis to Hawaii and send him first-class. Cleveland deserves it and so does Peyton.
