While it may not shock a lot of people, this sure as hell shocked me.
Chad Henne has been replaced as starting QB by his mentor, Chad Pennington. Pennington, the most accurate passer in NFL history, is also known for not being able to throw the ball deep. The change might lead to passes getting out faster, but it sure isn’t going to improve the deep game. We’ll see what happens Sunday vs. the Tennessee Titans.
Henne is coming off a week in which he threw three interceptions against the Ravens. Throughout the season, Henne has been throwing the ball late and does not seem to be on the same page as his receivers. In the 2010 season, Henne has 1900 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
The switch shows the Dolphins have lost faith in the Chad Henne Experiment (band name, anyone?) I still say it’s offensive coordinator Dan Henning’s fault. If he is still with the Phins next year, I would be surprised.
The Dolphins also signed veteran CB Al Harris and released CB Jason Allen. While Allen has had several key interceptions, he also has been beat deep on a lot of stupid plays. Allen is a former first-round pick.
