The Columbus Blue Jackets are faced with a difficult challenge tonight as they face off against the first place St. Louis Blues at 7:00 pm at the Nationwide Arena. This is a game that the Jackets need to win in order to build their confidence as they have a tough month of November ahead of them. The line-up will stay the same tonight with the exception of their goalie as Steve Mason will get the start tonight.
Three keys to the win:
Fore-check- It will be crucial for the Jackets to continue their aggressive fore-checking to create turnovers in the offensive end. Their strong fore-checking has helped their defensive game as they are spending more time in the opponents end of the ice. All four lines will have to fore-check early and hard in order to force the Blues to be always looking over their shoulder.
Steve Mason- He is getting the start after Mathieu Garon started the last three games. It will be important for Mason to make some big saves early to build his confidence. It will be interesting to see how the young goalie rebounds after not playing for the past week. He needs to play big and play positionally sound goal-tending tonight to hold off the Blues offensive attack.
Scoring- It is pretty simple, they need to score more goals. They need to crash the net at every opportunity and jam away at loose pucks. Get in Jaroslav Halak’s face, screen him, bump him, take plenty of shots, and do everything possible to get him off his game early.
Go Jackets Go!
