Chiefs Look to Buck the Broncos a Mile High

The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking to get back on track after an emotional and physical draining game with the Raiders in Oakland last week. The Chiefs had their chances in Oakland, but were unable to climb out of the Black hole with a win. The CHiefs have long forgotten about last Sunday with thier focus and attention turned to the 2-6 Broncos.

The Broncos, who are coming off a four game losing streak and the bye week, are desperate these days trying to get a win. The Chiefs impressive rushing attack ranks 1st in the league and they get set to do battle with the second to worst rushing defense in Denver. Josh McDaniels went out and got beefy on the defensive line soley for the rush defense, but so far has yet to pan out. The Chiefs offensive line should be able to bully the porous line of Denver.

On the horizon, the 1-2 punch of Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles would appear to be 100 yard games, or for that matter 200 yard games. I mean the last trip Charles made to Denver he decided to set a franchise record, rushing for 259 yards, embarrassing Broncos Nation and gave light to a dismal 2009 Chief campaign.

Matt Cassel will have a bigger challenge against the number 8 ranked pass defense, consisting of All-Pro Champ Bailey and Brian Dawkins. Cassel will continue to go to his main man Dwayne Bowe, but may not be able to break the game open as he has in the last few weeks. Tony Moeaki will be a favorable target as he goes against the Broncos banged up linebackers.

On the opposite side of the ball the Chiefs linebackers will be salivating come Sunday to the pathetic attempt Denver calls a running game. Denver is dead last in running the ball with no sign of any improvement.

The Chiefs defense will truly be tested by the lone bright star on Denver in Kyle Orton who is third in the league in passing. He somehow finds ways to carve up defensive backfields and should be a good test for rookie Eric Berry and Brandon Flowers. Flowers will be looking for redemption this week after missing a golden opportunity of sealing the game with an interception, but instead through his hands and..well you know the rest.

I feel it will be a very close game, with the Broncos rested and the Chiefs coming off a rough lost, this will be a true test of their season..how they respond. Check back in on Monday for post game review.
