Down The Stretch They Come

South Florida still has a chance to win the Big East. As everyone knows, the conference is wide open. Pittsburgh is the only team that is undefeated in conference play but three of their last four games are on the road. Every team in the Big East except Pitt has two losses. Parity? Bad teams?  A lot of coaching changes in the Big East? Perhaps a combination of all three.  Syracuse has been the biggest surprise in the conference, they have been cellar dwellars for years.  West Virginia has been the biggest disappointment, losing to Syracuse at home and losing on the road at Hartford against Connecticut. That all being said, the Mountaineers still have a great shot at winning the conference.  The Big East is the only conference among BCS Conference’s that doesn’t have a team in the top 25. How embarassing is that? Pittsburgh and West Virginia were both ranked in the preseason top 25, but clearly that didn’t last long. I still believe it will come down to  West Virginia or Pittsburgh and those two teams will meet in November at Pittsburgh.  Every team in the Big East is still mathematically alive for the title and a berth in a BCS Bowl. Who wants it? Does anyone want it?

Entering Saturday’s game at Louisville, the Bulls are tied with the Cardinals for third place. If the Bulls want to win the Big East for the first time in school history, they must win at Louisville and that is something they have never done.

For USF the offense has been the reason why they have won their last two games. Quarterback B.J. Daniels in the last two games ( both wins for the Bulls ) has completed 23 of 33 passes for 435 yards and four touchdowns. Senior running back Moise Plancher is coming off of a game where he had 180 all purpose yards against Rutgers,  Daniels will need a running game on Saturday.  The “D” has been stingy in giving  up points but they don’t force any turnovers. This has been a problem all season long, even when they were facing poor teams such as Western Kentucky and FAU.   I believe that needs to change on Saturday against Louisville, if USF wants to come out of Saturday’s game with the win.

Vegas Line: Louisville favored by 2

Prediction: Bulls 23 Cardinals 20 ( O.T. ???? )
