Buffalo has won their first game of the season 14-12 against the Detroit Lions in a spectacular fashion. Go figure that the defense were the ones that sealed it for them. The Bills did give up a 20 yard touchdown to Calvin Johnson with just a few seconds left on the clock, however a failed 2 point conversion won it for the Bills.
Offensively, Fred Jackson was a difference maker in the game; totaling 170 all purpose yards and 2 touchdowns. Of his 133 running yards Jackson had a huge 39 yard run setting him up for his second touchdown of the day. Ryan Fitzpatrick had yet another solid performance, his passing yards may have been low with 146 yards, more importantly he did not turn the ball over.
I’ll always give credit where credit is due; the defense gets my 1st star of the game, only allowing 77 yards rushing must have boosted their morale. Feeding off the play of the defense Leodis McKelvin gets my second star of the game. Unfortunately, a few bad penalties prevented McKelvin from getting 2 long returns, including one punt return for a touchdown.
My third star goes to Buffalo Bills fans that have stayed positive throughout this losing streak. It’s more fun to go into the a game thinking that they may win, instead of thinking they should just forfeit. The monkey may be off their backs but it’s time to take this win and build on it. I can tell that these Bills want to win, Fitzpatrick is a clear example of this. He is pleading his case to stay the starting quarterback for next year. The dream is still alive to finish 8-8. It may not happen but I bet everyone in that locker room and the guy writing this blog thinks they can.
