You knew losing 6 of their last 7 was not going to sit well with Darryl Sutter. Today he made a deal to address it.
Calgary is sending D Ian White and F Brett Sutter to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for D Anton Babchuk and F Tom Kostopoulos.
From a Flames perspective they gain a huge shot from the point in the form of Babchuk, also receiving another 4th liner in Kostopoulos who does all the meat and potatoes work.
Calgary gives up Ian White who was scheduled to be a UFA at the end of the year and was likely on the way out when Mark Giordano was resigned earlier to an extension. Brett Sutter will join his cousin Brandon in Carolina and will give them a little more grit and some youth.
My immediate impression is this move was designed to help out the power play with the acquisition of Babchuk.
Flames play tonight against the Coyotes!
Have a good one!
