Will The Stars Align For Indiana?

The Indiana Hoosiers (4-6) will play the Penn State Nittany Lions (6-4) at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland this Saturday. This is the home of the Washington Redskins and hopefully playing in a real NFL stadium will inspire the Hoosiers to win. Indiana has never beaten Penn State and they are coming off of a horrendous loss to the Wisconsin Badgers. Looking at the stats, a fairytale win for the Hoosiers seems to be far from reality.

The prince of Bloomington, IU quarterback, Ben Chappell, will be back on the field Saturday afternoon for the Hoosiers. He leads the Big Ten with 273 passing yards. He has completed over 60 percent of his passes and has thrown for 19 touchdowns this season. The Bloomington-bred said he is ready to play despite being roughed up by the Badgers.

When Indiana and Penn State face off, there will be a glimmer of hope for the Hoosiers since Penn State’s 2010 roster is not known for their offense. This will be good for Indiana since they have one of the worst defensive lines in the Big Ten this year. The Hoosiers will need to run the ball even though three of their running backs are out with torn ACLs. However, Trea Burgess, who leads the team with 341 rushing yards, will play.

I would love to end this article with “and they all lived happily ever after” because I really hope Indiana returns to Bloomington with a W but looking at the way they have been playing all season, Coach Bill Lynch may need to wish on a shooting star in order to secure his 100th career victory. Kickoff is at noon and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
