Just another Clipper loss. Michael Beasley’s 15 foot jumper with 2.3 left in the game put the Wolves up 113-111. The Clipper loss was sealed when a 3 point attempt by Rasual Butler rimmed out.
Beasley was able to do whatever he pleased. He went 14-23 from the field and scored 33 points. It was his third 30 point game in his last five outings. Beasley appears to have turned the corner and is poised to live up to #2 pick in the draft hype.
The Clippers once again put out a solid effort. But there was simply too many mistakes down the stretch. The Clippers seem to find a way to dig themselves into a hole, scratch and claw their way back to ground level and slip into the darkness of another tough defeat.
The Clippers went on a 10-1 run to take a 111-109 lead with 1:32 left to play. Next two offensive possessions: turnover and yet another turnover. 16 turnovers in all for the Clippers, who are 27th in the league in turnovers. That is not going to get it done.
I’m not really sure how to correct the problem.
When you have a 20 year old and 21 year old holding the ball mistakes will happen.
The Clippers were led by Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin who scored 30 and 26 points respectively. Griffin racked up 17 boards. The stats are nice, but they are not leading to wins as the Clipper record stands at 1-11.
Kevin Love of the Wolves pulled down 14 boards and dropped 24 points. The 4th pick of the 2010 NBA draft, Wesley Johnson continues to struggle early on in his rookie campaign generating only 7 points, a rebound and 2 assists in 26 minutes of work.
Clippers take on the Pacers tomorrow night.
At this point it is very easy to rip into the Clippers. But the effort is there. This is a young team that is trying to find itself. As long as the effort is there, Clipper fans have hope. Unfortunately, the hope is for the future as this season is already lost.
