Slumping Chiefs, Look To Rebound

Well,we do not need to talk any more about the shellacking by the Denver Broncos last week, nor do we need to vent our frustration with Head Coach Todd Haley anymore. Instead the Chiefs need to focus on this Sunday as they play host to the Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs defense has lost all of its swagger and confidence since the 4th quarter game against Oakland and have not been able to regain it. The run game was non existent last week and special teams did nothing to put the team in competing positions. Those three aspects of the game are what propelled the Chiefs to early glory and success. Now that they are not their the once contenders seem to be fading into pretenders.
Now we all know the Chiefs opening season run was no fluke, they played hard and got the victories. Hopefully, Haley listened to me, and realized they need to go back to basics. The defense needs to get some early stops to regain their confidence which will allow the ground game to get going.
For Chiefs Nation, this game could not have come at a better time. The 3-6 Cardinals have been nothing short of a disappointment with Kurt Warner hanging up his pads. Arizona statistically ranks near the bottom of every major statistical category. Ranking 28th defensively on the ground, this poses a fantastic opportunity to get Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones back on track. With their offense ranking 31st in yards per game, the defense should be able to get some stops as well as some turnovers.
Matt Cassel has played extremely well at home this year and needs to continue his home efficiency on Sunday. Cassel will be looking to his touchdown catching wide out Dwayne Bowe who has 9 scores already this year. Bowe has turned up the heat as of late and should be yet another multi touchdown game for him.
The Chiefs will come out will ferocity and focus on Sunday, but the biggest question mark will be: Will Haley shake Ken Whisenhunt’s hand after game.
