Babcock Will Keep Shuffled Lines
Posted By Jeremy Klumpp On Nov 19 2010 @ 12:51 pm In Detroit Red Wings | No Comments
Red Wings coach Mike Babcock shuffled his lines in the first period on Wednesday night, and the team responded by beating the St. Louis Blues 7-3. He will continue using Johan Franzen on the first line, and separate Pavel Datsyuk from Henrik Zetterberg on power plays.
Franzen brings a better puck-handler to the first line without losing the size and power of Tomas Holmstrom. Both attributes should help a first line that has been struggling lately.
The power play did score two goals Wednesday night, but both Datsyuk and Zetterberg have not played well this season on the power play. Both have only one power play goal this season. With the switch Babcock is hoping to ignite the power play.
Babcock is not afraid of shuffling lines. He has had Patrick Eaves and Drew Miller rotating most of the season on the Wings fourth line since the return of Justin Abelkader.
The Wings will take on the Minnesota Wild tonight at 7:30pm at Joe Louis Arena.
