The Redskins are trying to forget last week’s horrendous loss to the Eagles and start over against the Titans this Sunday at 1PM. Lucky for them the buzz about this week’s game is no longer about “that game” but is focusing on Albert Haynesworth’s return to Tennessee to play against his home team. Haynesworth has been bounced back and forth many times this year about possible trades, but he’s a Redskin and is looking forward to the game. “I just want to go out there and get a victory,” he said. “Go there, play hard and show them that they’re missing me.” Let’s all hope!
The other player dominating the media for this week’s game is newly acquired WR Randy Moss to the Titans. This is Moss’ 3rd team this year, so how is he going to react to yet another offense? I don’t really expect much.
Some great news for the Redskins is on the offense side. Brandon Banks is rated 4th in the NFL for punt returns, but has also been practicing at WR. He’s already got 1 TD return this year as a rookie (undrafted) and see a great many more in this guy’s future. Another newbie, 1st year WR Anthony Armstrong is #1 in the league right now for yardage with 22.6 yards per catch. RB Clinton Portis may see the field this weekend as well, RB Keiland Williams has 5 TDs, but Ryan Torain did not practice. TE Chris Cooley is #2 in the NFL for his position with 463 yards and 2 TDS. Bad news is that McNabb’s 3 interceptions last year and all the talk about how he can still be cut at the end of the season may affect all these offensive opportunities. Let’s hope not!
Now as for the defense they are getting a LOT of slack and so is Jim Haslett. They lead the league, not in a good way, with 592 yards allowed last weekend. What do they do? How do they improve? Here’s what Defensive Captain London Fletcher has to say.
“The thing about this defense, you’re going to go through some growing pains in the first year,” linebacker London Fletcher said. “We’ve had some games where we’ve played some really good football and we’ve had some games where we’ve struggled. “That’s to be expected, but it’s not accepted. We’re not just accepting where we are. We’re going to continue to work hard and continue to practice, focus and prepare in order to be successful on game day. We’re going to try to play the scheme a lot better.”

I lived in Greene County Virginia for about 5 years of my childhood. This span of time was enough to imprint the love of the Washington Redskins (and hate of the Dallas Cowboys) into my life forever, even though I am Canadian and still live in Canada. I am in no way an expert on sports, football, or even the Redskins, but I do absolutely adore them, their fans and their home state(s).
My favourite Redskin is and will always be Darrell Green (not because we share the same last name lol). I've adored Chris Cooley since he joined the team from the 2004 draft and love London Fletcher.
