McGloin and Co. Redeem Themselves vs. Indiana

Posted By Stephanie Geosits On Nov 21 2010 @ 4:29 pm In Penn State | No Comments

After coming off a wretched second half of football against Ohio State, the Nittany Lions really did have something to prove against Indiana at FedEx Field. It took until the third quarter, but Matt McGloin and Penn State got their message across.

All season Joe Paterno has been griping that his team needed to be more aggressive and play with more authority. Well, with the score tied at 24 in the third, Andrew Dailey and James Van Fleet combined for a punt block and return to put PSU ahead. McGloin added another score to seal the 41-24 win. More importantly, the Nittany Lions salvaged some pride and improved to 7-4, 4-3.

The day was initially shaping up to be a disaster in the making. One of the team buses broke down on the way to the stadium, Penn State blew a 14-point lead, and oh yeah, the Nittany Lions were in danger of becoming the Hoosiers’ first Big Ten victim of the season and losing to them for the first time in the series history.

But the stars eventually aligned for Penn State. Whew.
