Panthers Fall Prey to the Ravens

Panthers fall to 1-9 against the Ravens (7-3) with a 37-13 loss at home.
Any current Panthers fan will tell you that things were looking quite bleek the week riding up to this game, but the Panthers had kept it interesting until mid-way through the 4th quarter.
With Brian St. Pierre getting the start today, the Panthers had a new quarterback to be hopefull about. By “new” im referring to that ”used car” type of new. With different unsuccessful stints with Pittsburgh and Arizona, nobody was expecting much, and St. Pierre delivered just that. He had a nice 88 yard TD pass to the young David Gettis; but would have went 12-for-27 for 85 yards and 2 picks without it (both picks resulting in pick-sixes by the way). These aren’t good stats on anyone’s spectrum. When a 30 year old QB is giving you these stats, its even more of a reason to worry.
At this point in the season, the Panthers should be testing out all of their new toys for potential future use (for example, the likes of Tony Pike). Generally speaking the Panthers have been doing a decent job as of late doing this with other positions. So why in this game did they decide to dust off an old Super Mario 64 cartridge and try to squeeze it in to a Nintendo Wii?
I won’t sit here and say that Pike would have definitely brought the Panthers a “W” today, but I will say that he can possibly bring them future wins; St. Pierre is past his prime and already proven that he is barely UFL worthy. It’s time that John Fox starts thinking about the future of the franchise, or he will be shown the door sooner than later (Dallas did it with even less of a reason behind their actions).
We can expect the Panthers to better their record as their star players start to come back from injuries, but don’t expect any play-off talks any time this season. The best thing to do is see who the Panthers should hold on to as the season progresses.
St. Pierre: Don’t get too comfortable in the warm Carolina weather.
Mike Goodson: You played tough out there, but don’t expect to put up those numbers again this season.
Jonathan Stewart/Jimmy Clausen: Get well soon!! (please?)
