Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve gotten to write about a UT victory. It’s about time. I’m not sure how proud to be, about a 51-17 win over FAU but I’ll take it.
Gilbert had his best game this season. 15-21 for 263 yards and 2 touchdowns. Plus 60 yards rushing and NO interceptions. I know, it’s FAU but it’s signs of progression.
It helps when you have a receiver that can beat cornerbacks in a jump ball on a hail mary right before half time, thank you Mr. Williams.
The ground game was very good. Cody Johnson was outstanding running the ball, gaining 124 yards on 28 carries and 1 touchdown. UT still has a problem punching it in from the one yard line. But it’s progress.
Love to the Defense. 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery takin back for a touchdown by Emmanuel Acho. Good job D.
A game like this can give a team something to build on. Give you some confidence or give you a reason to smile like Mack wants his players to do. Either way UT had to win not just so they can have a chance to get into a bowl game but because a team like FAU is a team that UT should always beat.
Now this sets up a huge game against their rival Aggies.
If UT wants to play in a bowl, they have to beat A&M.
