It was a weekend that seemed to be high scoring across most leagues with Dwayne Bowe, Greg Jennings, Steve Johnson, Marques Colston, and Santonio Holmes all catching multiple touchdowns. Along with strong performances by Peyton Hillis, Fred Jackson, Cedric Benson, Arian Foster, LeSean McCoy, Ray Rice, MJD, Michael Turner, and even yes Matt Forte all put together at least 100 total yards and at least 1 TD. Chances are you guys had a least part of the pie and it paid off. That being said amongst the fantasy rubble that is left on the waiver wires there may be a few diamonds left out there that could lead you to last season fantasy glory. People who may the last piece to that fantasy puzzle you have been waiting for or a guy that has been on the radar and now has immediate value.
Here’s a look at some pick ups.
Mike Goodson – Goodson has run for back to back 100 yard games for the Panthers, with the latest being against a stout Baltimore run defense. Carolina has long had the means for a good run game but has been left with a constant toss up between the likes of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. With both of them out Goodson has received at least 20 touches a game and with Williams on IR and Stewart still dealing with lingering effect of a concussion Goodson may be in line for the feature role for the rest of the season. With playoff match ups at ATL and ARI he may be a good fill to get you to a championship, but plan for him as an interchangeable part for week 16 as he will face the Steelers if he is still starting. He is showing available in 69% of leagues and will likely start at least next week vs Cleveland.
Keiland Williams – Clinton Portis returned this Sunday only to further injure his ailing groin and looks like he may be done for the season. Portis says he knew he wasn’t at 100%, but still played anyway and though he says he will try to go this next week look for him to be shut down for the rest of the season. That puts Williams in the starting role with only an ailing and injury prone Ryan Torain behind him. Williams has ran well when given the chance and is a good pass receiver making him great for PPR leagues. I listed him last week and he may have been grabbed in some leagues only to be dropped when it was announced that Portis would return as the starter. So if you dropped him or someone else dropped him based on that news, now is the time to grab him. The Skins don’t have the best run blockers, but that hasn’t detoured Shanahan when he has had a feature back. Williams has a great playoff schedule facing TB, DAL, and JAX and is available in at least 64% of leagues currently.
Shaun Hill – After Matthew Stafford came back Hill became waiver wire fodder as well he should have, however, he is back and only owned in 23% of leagues currently , if you are struggling at the QB position and still have a shot at the playoffs, or maybe just want to spoil someone’s chances, Hill is in a decent offense and is spreading the ball around well which seemed to be lacking in Detroit while Stafford was at the helm. You could do worse unless Ryan Fitzpatrick is still out there.
Nate Burleson – Another Lion that is worth a look. These guys are the kings of junk time fantasy points, and in deeper leagues Burleson could be one of the better options out there. With Hill spreading the ball around Burleson has become decent start and is available in 82% of leagues. He may not have as much value in a shallow league though, so be careful and don’t make any rash decisions to pick up Burleson. Remember, the Lions still have the Decepticon leader, AKA Megatron, Burleson is Starscream at best.
Jimmy Graham – Graham has had his role increased after Jeremy Shockey was hurt and is responding well grabbing 5 receptions for 72 yards Sunday.. In a pass a happy offense he is someone to keep an eye on if he can stay on the field. He should be stashed in deeper leagues and probably just flagged in shallower ones. He could be a great pick up if his role keeps increasing.
Any comments or questions please post. Good luck everyone.
