Return of the Hawks
Posted By Alex Wasserstrom On Nov 23 2010 @ 9:00 am In San Jose Sharks | No Comments
The Chicago Blackhawks return to San Jose on Wednesday night for the first time since sweeping the Sharks in the ’10 Western Conference Finals. The Hawks are in game 4 of their current 6 game road-trip and have enjoyed big wins against the Canucks (7-1) and Oilers (5-0), but also lost big against the Flames (7-2). Who knows which Chicago team will show up? Especially if they decided to
watch Patrick Kane punch some more cab drivers and stop somewhere like….Vegas?
Regardless, the Sharks have lost their last three after laying an egg against Columbus and doing their best rendition of the 1993 (darkish) comedy ‘Groundhog Day’ dropping back-to-back road games in virtually identical fashion. In case you missed the games, the Sharks had a 2-goal lead in the 3rd period, then a disallowed goal due to a high-stick, and finished with an OT loss – in both games in that order.
In their loss against the Blue Jackets, the Sharks looked to be out of sync at times, maybe they were looking ahead at this Chicago game, but Columbus, to their credit, played well for sixty minutes and throughout their sweep (literally) through California.
As (F) Frazer McLaren and (D) Mike Moore have been reassigned to Worcester, Douglas Murray will be back in the lineup after missing the last two with an upper-body injury. However, the team will be without Jason Demers who left the Columbus game early and did not return.
And finally, Anttii Niemi will be facing his former team for the first time but, lets face it, he’s not the same as he was from the playoffs and neither are the Blackhawks. It should be a high-energy entertaining game.
