The Badgers recruiting class keeps getting better by the day. According to many sources, Kenosha Bradford running back Melvin Gordon has decommitted from Iowa and will visit Wisconsin this week when they play Northwestern and give Bret Bielema his verbal commitment to the Badgers.
Gordon was just named Wisconsin’s Offensive Player of the Year after he lead his Bradford team deep into the State playoffs before bowing out in the Semi-finals. Bradford rushed for 2,009 yards on just 158 carries to go along with 38 touchdowns…those are some scary numbers.
Wisconsin also received another verbal a few days ago from Ohio native Austin Traylor. Traylor, who goes 6’4″, 215 pounds played defensive end and tight end in high school. He is believed to be recruited by the Badgers as a tailback prospect but that could switch with Gordon’s change of heart. Traylor also had offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Arizona, Boston College and Cincinnati, among others.
When Gordon visits this weekend as the Badgers play Northwestern, that will make 21 recruits thus far for the 2011 class. The three Dwyer boys – Jacoby Brissett, Nick O’Leary and Curt Maggitt are still out there and all are believed to have the Badgers high on their lists.
