“Diamonds” in the Rough

If you don’t possess one of those “elite” quarterbacks that put up Manning or Brees-like numbers on a consistent basis, you may find yourself playing “Musical QBs” for the remainder of the season. This can make or break your run to fantasy football supremacy. Here are a few guys that are more than likely available and could quietly act as “diamonds” in the rough for your team. I put diamonds in quotations because having a predicament like this gives you only the option of making the best out of a bad situation.

Shuan Hill: Yes, the Lions aren’t quite “there” yet but going into Week 12, no team has more passing attempts than the Detroit Lions. Hill has 12 TDs and has technically played in eight but some of those were in relief of an oft-injured Matthew Stafford. Hill threw the ball 47 times last week against the Cowboys, completing 32 with two TDs. Hill also has some solid options to go to in Calvin Johnson, Brandon Pettigrew and Jahvid Best. Hill won’t face another dominant pass defense this season (Has New England this week) so he could be your man in the coming weeks.  Hill is owned in only 24% of all Yahoo! Leagues.

Ryan Fitzpatrick: This Harvard Grad took a hold of the Bills starting QB spot and all the glory that comes with it. In eight games this year, Fitzpatrick has 18 TDS and averages around 245 passing yards a game. Not bad for a guy that is barely owned in half of all Yahoo! Leagues. Fitz has thrown a TD in eleven consecutive games for the Bills, which is the longest streak for the team since Doug Flutie went twelve games in a row in 1999. Against Cincy last week, Fitz threw for 4 TDs and 316 yards. With a pretty crummy defense, the Bills will be in throw mode early and often.

Mark Sanchez: Now everyone has heard of and seen Mark Sanchez, but few are really playing him (only 32% of all Yahoo! Leagues.) Sanchez isn’t putting up godly numbers but does have 5 TDs in his last two games and has throw for 300 yards in both of them. Sanchez and Santonio Holmes are beginning to build some serious chemistry together which could mean some big numbers come crunch time. Excluding Miami, Sanchez won’t play against a Top 10 pass defense for the rest of the year (Cincinnati this week.)
