Boise State vs Nevada Preview

Boise State has two games left on its schedule, and one of them could be the most important in school history. Boise State (10-0), comes into Reno this friday looking to secure a win against one of its biggest rivals in the WAC. Boise State, currently one spot behind TCU in the BCS standings, must look to play one of its best games to date as they try to leap frog over TCU for a chance to play in the national championship. With both Oregon and Auburn playing ranked teams this weekend, the team third in the BCS standings would be in prime position to sneak into the national championship if one of those teams were to lose this weekend.
Nevada presents the biggest obstacle in Boise States road to perfection. No team in the WAC has yet to challenge the Broncos this season, and with this being the last time either of these teams play against each other in the WAC, this game looks to be a shoot out. Boise State comes in averaging 47.9 points a game this season, 2nd best in the nation, while Nevada comes in averaging 44.1 points a game, 4th best in the nation. Nevada comes in sporting the Pistol offense, the creation of coach Chris Ault. No other quarterback has run his offense better than Colin Kaepernick. This season Kaepernick has passed for 2412 yards as well as rushed for 984 yards. With him and running back Vai Taua in the backfield, look for the Wolf Pack to and utilize their run game to defeat the Broncos.
Boise State led my quarterback Kellen Moore, looks to have another solid outing against the suspect Nevada defense. In previous outings agasinst Hawaii as well as Fresno State, the Wolf Pack defense looked very vulnerable at times. Look for Kellen Moore as well as running back Doug Martin to lead a balanced attack as well as try and keep the highly potent Nevada offense on the sideline.
The matchup between these two schools has been the most anticipated game in the WAC this season. For Nevada, it’s the chance to defeat one of its biggest rivals as well as play the roll of the spoiler. For Boise State, its the opportunity to yet again reach another BCS bowl game as well as have a chance to become the first non-AQ team to reach the national championship game. Boise State thrives in games where the national spotlight is on them, and that is why they will defeat the Wolf Pack 52-35 in a game in which the Broncos inch closer to a BCS birth.
