Black Friday for shoppers was indeed a black Friday for the Ducks marred by a 4-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, bringing their current losing streak to six games.  After the Ducks’ first six game win streak in over two years, they then turned around and tallied road losses to Chicago, Dallas, and Minnesota, before losing on home ice to the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Edmonton Oilers, and last night, the Chicago Blackhawks…again.

LAST Friday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets saw a season high 50 shots from the Ducks and, despite goals from Saku Koivu, Bobby Ryan, and Corey Perry, the Ducks could not pull out the win versus the Blue Jackets, who were on a 6-1-0 win streak on the road.  The Ducks also lost Teemu Selanne mid-way through the third period to a groin injury.

Ducks then recalled right winger, Dan Sexton, and left winger, Brandon McMillan, from the Syracuse Crunch on the 20th.  Both players were in the line-up for last Sunday’s 2-4 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.  In a game that had an uncanny resemblance to their Blue Jacket’s loss, the Ducks had 40 shots on goal, goals again by Bobby Ryan and Saku Koivu, but were unable to convert on their shots and/or keep the Oilers from putting pucks in Hiller’s net.

With five days of rest, the Ducks played host to the traveling Chicago Blackhawks last night in their traditional post-Thanksgiving game while the Hawks tour the country on their “Circus trip” (The circus took over the United Center leaving the Hawks with no place to play).  The Ducks also unveiled a snazzy black third jersey with orange trim and white numbers, as well as mustaches to participate in “Movember,” an attempt to raise funds and awareness for cancers affecting men.  Selanne was scratched again with a sore groin as the Ducks lost to the Hawks in their “Black Friday” game for the first time in 15 years.  Sexton, who had an assist in his first game back, also had the Ducks’ only goal with a deflection assisted by Koivu and Fowler.  Hiller was pulled in the third following the goal by Troy Brouwer when the Ducks players were following the puck like eight year olds in an AYSO soccer game allowing Brouwer an uncontested goal.

The Ducks hope to end their downfall today at 5:00 at Jobing.com Arena against the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are playing back-to-back games as well, winning yesterday against the Ottawa Senators and traveling to take on the Calgary Flames for another morning game today.

Happy belated Thanksgiving!
