Hokies Collect 7th Straight Commonwealth Cup, FSU Awaits.

Virginia Tech 37 Virginia 7

It was another successful Senior Day for the Hokies, and the team never looked better.  The Hokies finally lost a coin toss, and received to start the first half.  They, in usual fashion, started off slow.  The Hokies and Hoos were tied for the entire first quarter, but an early 5 yard TD run by Ryan Williams gave the Hokies the lead.  The Hokies never looked back, and added ten more points to end the first half.  The Hokies scored three more TD’s in the second half, and gave up only one score late in the game.  Virginia Tech utilized their three headed monster at running back, and amassed 201 yards on the ground. David Wilson had 83 of those yards, averaged 6.4 yards per carry, and had 1 score.  He also had 3 receptions for 65 yards, and if it wasn’t for him losing balance during the reception on a wide open wheel route, he would have added a TD and a lot more yards.  Tyrod, during his last game in Lane, was 13/23 for 176 yards and 1 TD.  He continues to limit his mistakes and had 0 interceptions.  Kyle Fuller had an amazing day on defense with 8 tackles and made an impression on Bud Foster.

The Hokies now have one ACC game left. The ACC Championship will be held in Charlotte this year.  They will face a strong Florida State squad, that has been led to one of its best seasons in recent memory, led by 1st year head coach Jimbo Fisher.  The Noles lead the Nation in sacks, and will certainly make Tyrod have to think quick in the backfield.  The game is slated for a 7:45 pm kickoff, and will be aired on ESPN.
