The Nittany Lions fell to Michigan State at Beaver Stadium for the first time during the Paterno Era. It wasn’t a big shock as the Spartans were ranked in the top 10 and were fighting for a Rose Bowl bid.
PSU had an uncharacteristic game, earning key penalties like a roughing the passer and running into the kicker which helped to keep MSU drives alive. Penn State finished up the regular season 7-5 and 4-4 in the Big Ten. Nothing terrible. Nothing great.
JoePa has already told people he will be back next year and why not? This team was YOUNG. It will be far more mature next year. If we don’t see an improvement in their record in 2011, then the Joe Must Go cries will have some legs.
As for a bowl bid – there’s 35 or so out there. PSU tends to draw a crowd. You never know, but it won’t be anything earth-shattering if they do go.
