The 49ers bound back on MNF

Last nights game showed one of two things; either the 49ers are finally starting to click and play good football, or the Arizona Cardinals are not a very good football team. Either way, Monday nights’ 26-6 victory was a dominant performance.
After the 1st half the 49ers had 128 rushing yards and 85 passing yards while holding Arizona to 10 yards rushing and 106 yards passing. And they were leading 21 to 6, need I repeat … in the first half.
The statistical domination continued in the second half. The Cardinals did not score the rest of the game and finished with 190 passing yards and 13 rushing yards. I could keep listing the statistical discrepancies, but that would be boring. My point is that the 49ers dominated every level of the game.
The 49ers played their brand of football in all 3 phase of the game. A strong power running game (even with the loss of Frank Gore in the 1st quarter), play action pass leading to big plays, and stout defense forcing bad passes (Arizona’s QB Derek Anderson did have a part in this) and stuffing the running game.
I want to touch on the loss of Frank Gore for the season. He was put on injured reserve on Tuesday with a fractured hip. There is no point in down playing how this will hurt the 49ers the rest of the season. Gore accounted for almost 40% of all yards gained by the 49ers. Other players are going to have to step up if the 49ers want to have any hope at a playoff run.
Monday night, Brian Westbrook and Anthony Dixon both stepped up in the running game. Westbrook finished the night with 136 yards and a touchdown and Dixon added another 54 yards and a TD of his own.
Week 13 will give the 49ers the opportunity to prove the Monday night’s dominance was not because of a weaker opponent when the 49ers travel to Lambeau Field to face the Packers. Pack your mittens.
