Clippers Grab Huge Win Against NBA’s Best Spurs

Ten days ago the Los Angeles Clippers faced the New Orleans Hornets on November 22, who at the time had the best record in the NBA. On Wednesday, December 1st the Clippers continued that trend by taking down the team with the current best record at at the Staples Center with a statement win against the San Antonio Spurs 90-85. The Spurs previously owned the Clippers, winning the previous 19 games; the last Clipper win against the Spurs was March 2008. This victory was well overdue.
Los Angeles had an additional surge of inspiration with the return of Baron Davis. He missed fourteen out of the last fifteen games due to an ankle injury and conditioning issues but exceeded expectations with 10 assists and 7 points. In addition to Davis’ contribution, fellow guard Eric Gordon quietly racked up 21 points. Blake Griffin gave his usual solid performance of 31 points and 13 rebounds showing that he is worthy of receiving NBA’s Rookie of the Month Award.
The Clippers three of four wins this season has been against three of the best teams in the Western conference (Oklahoma City, New Orleans Hornets and San Antonio Spurs) in which the Clippers held them to less than 95 points in each match-up. Wednesday’s lackluster performance by San Antonio in which they missed twenty-one three pointers and Tony Parker’s two point effort gave the Clippers the opportunity to prove their ability to perform at the highest level.
If only the Clipper Nation can rise on a consistent basis!
