Mavs End Utah’s Streak at 7

Two teams entered the gym boasting 7 game win streaks, only 1 team would leave unscathed. The Mavericks won game number 8 in this current streak by beating the Jazz 93-81, the Mavs advance to 15-4 and the Jazz fall to 15-6. The Jazz are still 2 games ahead because the Thunder lost to the Raptors. Utah’s home record now falls to 8-4, Utah didn’t really do anything wrong this game except MISS!!

The Jazz were held to 39.2 percent shooting from the field, it wasn’t any better from the line either as they made 20 of 30(66.7%). It was even worse from beyond the arch as the Jazz shot ┬ájust 3-14 (21.4%), not one member of the Jazz had a good shooting night. As much as I would like to give most of the credit to the defense of the Mavs, I can’t and won’t. The Jazz found open shooters, but barely any of those open shots actually went in the basket. Dallas on the other hand, was extremely efficient for most of the game. The Mavs shot 52.6 % from the floor, they made 7 of their 11 free throw attempts, and Dirk Nowitski finished with 26 points on 12 of 18 shooting. The only productive player in terms of shooting was Paul Milsap, Milsap finished with 21 points on 6 for 10 shooting. Deron Williams shot 3-14 for 12 points, Al Jefferson tallied 18 points on 8 for 20 shooting, and super-sub CJ Miles shot 3-8 resulting in 9 points. This streak has ended and the Jazz should put this game behind them and move on, up next they face the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night. The Grizzlies will present problems for the Jazz in terms of talent, the Jazz have the advantage in execution. The Grizzlies are a young team with a young PG in Mike Conley, Deron Williams should be able to control the tempo which gives the Jazz a huge advantage. Milsap and Jefferson will have their hands full down in the paint, they face Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. Kirelenko will have to slow down Rudy Gay, the Jazz don’t want the young Grizzlies to push the temp and make it into a running game. Will the Jazz bounce back at home, or will this turn into the other kind of streak (a loosing one)?? Can they regain their shooting stroke as a team??
