The 49ers get frost bitten at the Frozen tundra

San Francisco cannot get a win against a team with a winning record, and if they have any hope of having success in the playoffs (assuming they make it to the playoffs), they have to find a way to beat a team with a winning record.
The 49ers were in the game during the first half. Then the 49ers offense sputtered and their defense forgot how to tackle.
The running game ran for only 97 yards total and no touchdowns. Troy Smith threw for under 200 yards, one touchdown and one pick. They were also awful on 3rd down, converting only 25% of the time.
The defense allowed Aaron Rogers to throw 3 touchdowns for a total of 298 yards. Their defense troubles were highlighted on Donald Driver’s 61-yard touchdown pass. The 49ers sent a blitz and Aaron Rogers got the ball out quickly. Driver then ran threw 6 tackles to score the touchdown. That is 6 opportunities the 49ers had to stop the play but didn’t.
The 49ers defense did apply some pressure and sacked Rogers’ 4 times. That is the only real defensive highlight of today’s game.
The 49ers still have their eye on making the playoffs, and mathematically it is still possible. But today’s game showed that they are not ready to play and compete against playoff calibre teams.
There are 4 games left in the season, 3 of which are against divisional rivals. Next week the 49ers will be hosting the Seattle Seahawks. This will be the only chance for the 49ers to avenge a loss.
