Final Score: NY Knicks (13-9) – 121 Minnesota Timberwolves (5-16) - 114
Tonight at the Garden the Knicks and Timberwolves put on a high scoring offensive showdown. Once again the Knicks defensive prowess, which has been apparent in the third quarter of the last few games was strong enough to hold off the T-wolves as the Knicks take their fifth straight.
Last time the NY met Minnesota, the T-wolves overcame a 21 point deficit in the second half to take a heart breaker from the Knicks. This being the same game that Kevin Love has his career high with 33 points and 31 boards. Once again Love was efficient on both offense and defense as he was able to 31 points and grab 15 tonight. Unfortunately for Minnesota this was not enough to overcome Stoudemire’s 34 points as the Knicks get their revenge from Minnesota.
The Knicks continue to beat the teams which they absolutely need to beat to secure themselves within the playoff contenders in the East. It is also important to remember that next week the Knicks will meet Denver, Boston, and Miami in a row, which amplifies the importance of winning these games against the sub five hundred teams.
It hard to find a positive note or outcome from a six game losing streak but you would have to agree that the adversity the Knicks have seen earlier this season has had a huge impact on their team. Since the Knicks have taken ownership of their losses, their work ethic and passion for the game has noticeably improved, resulting in a nice early season record.
