Penn State will face off against Florida in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day in Tampa.
While the Nittany Lions always draw a great crowd, I’m sure they will be in hostile territory, having sat in front of two obnoxious Florida fans when PSU played Tennessee in their last Outback Bowl appearance, a 20-10 victory in 2007.
That 2006 team was a lot more convincing, to be blunt. Paul Posluszny lead the Nittany Lions on defense and QB Michael Robinson finished fifth in the Heisman balloting. They finished 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the Big Ten.
Like Penn State, Florida is 7-5 and its coming off a loss to Florida State. This will certainly not be a spectacular matchup by any means and the Urban Meyer vs. JoePa thing will be played to death. Regardless, it’s a fun trip in the middle of winter for Nittany Lion fans.
