The Colts Come Up Short in Overtime Thriller

Peyton Manning and the Colts looked to redeem themselves after another disappointing defeat last week against the San Diego Chargers. The Dallas Cowboys, eliminated from play-off contention, came to Lucas Oil Stadium with one thing on their agenda; kick the Colts while they are down. They did so, indeed.
The roller coaster match-up consisted of Indianapolis rallying back from a 17-0 deficit, Manning throwing four interceptions, two in which the Cowboys scored touchdowns, the Colts showing tough goal line defense in the fourth but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to defeat the gutsy Cowboys.
Wide Receiver Reggie Wayne came to play on Sunday and was a solid weapon for Peyton Manning. It became the Manning and Wayne show when Peyton went to Wayne seven times on the last drive of regulation. The crowd chanted “Reggie” after he sacrificed his body stretching out to catch a 40 yard pass, landing him on the 1 yard line. This effort set up the Javvaris James 1 yard touchdown run, putting the Colts up 28-27 with 12:56 remaining in regulation. The momentum was in the hands of the Colts, but was short lived.
After a long Cowboy possession in the fourth, Kitna connected for a touchdown with tight end Jason Witten giving them the lead of 33-28. Kitna then went for two points in which Roy Williams gave the Cowboys a 35-28 lead.
With possession back in the Colts hands; Javvaris James rushed for a two yard touchdown run and an Adam Vinatieri point after made it 35-35 sending the game into overtime.
Peyton’s forth interception set up a last minute field goal by Dallas’ Davis Bueler kicker in overtime to seal the Cowboy’s victory with a score of 38-35.
Indianapolis is now 6-6 through twelve games, a state in which they have not been in while. They haven’t had a record under .500 in almost nine years. Colts fans have no fear; they are still battling with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the top spot in the AFC South.
The Colts have a short week to lick their wounds; they face the sinking Tennessee Titans on Thursday.
