Fantasy Preview Playoffs

Posted By David Willow On Dec 7 2010 @ 1:12 pm In Fantasy Football | No Comments

The fantasy playoffs are here, at least for most leagues, and there are, as always, a few pickups to key in on in what will likely be your last chance to grab players off of waivers before they are closed. Right now most of you have your lineups set already, but it is always good to have good players on your bench in the playoffs in case of injury or, if you’re like me, just to spite another owner vying for that playoff gold. Here are some last minute guys that could help put your team over the top this season.

Sidney Rice -Rice is still showing available in 32% of leagues. If that includes your league, grab him now. He looks to be in good form and despite what he says, is playing for a contract extension. Even if Favre is hurt, Tarvaris Jackson showed a willingness to get the ball to Rice and the same pickup that a lot of fantasy owners hung their championships on last year could do the same again this year.

Tashard Choice – Choice should probably have been starting for most of the season, but it was important for them to see what they really had in Felix Jones and Marion Barber. Now they are willing to get Choice in and he has shown that he can go. He will likely at least take over goal line duties and may keep them even when  Barber is back after next week, and playing behind the oft-injured Jones, Choice should see enough carries to justify a roster spot. Should he get a full load, he could make the difference on your team.

Jonathan Stewart – Stewart looks to be back and healthy and with the shoulder injury to Mike Goodson, will be the main ball carrier in Carolina. Stewart is showing available in 44% of leagues and is well worth an add with a decent playoff schedule.

Javarris James – Though I am hesitant to recommend a Colts running back, James is looking like the primary back at least for the next game against the Titans. Mike Hart re-injured his ankle against the Cowboys and so did Donald Brown. With Addai still suffering from a shoulder injury, James may be the runner by default. However, his main use would be on the goal line as the Colts tended towards throwing the ball – even before the possibility of having to start the undrafted rookie. Grab him if you have room to spare on your bench.

James Starks – Starks has been on the PUP list for most of the season and got the majority of the carries in the Packers’ last game. He is almost universally available and may be worth a look if you’re in need, but remember that Brandon Jackson will still be the Packers’ main receiving back.

Roy E. Williams – After being phased out of the offense for the most part over the past few weeks Williams owners gave up on him, but with Dez Bryant’s injury Williams will again be the number 2 receiver on the field and with the way the Cowboys have been clicking lately he is well worth an add.
