Fantasy Playoffs Preview

Posted By David Willow On Dec 9 2010 @ 3:59 pm In Fantasy Football | No Comments

It’s fantasy playoff time for most leagues and hopefully everyone is ready with pick ups and match ups set up for what will hopefully be fantasy glory and bragging rights within your league. Some of you may be coming into the playoffs minus a player due to injury, Dez Bryant maybe, and some of you may be squeaking into the playoffs and facing a team with more accomplished talent, like Arian Foster or Adrian Peterson. This could be a blessing for some though as those tow backs will be facing tough match ups with Foster at Baltimore and Peterson at the New York Giants. Under these circumstances the best course of action will come in the form of good planning, good pick ups, and very high hopes.

Joe Flacco – Flacco has been inconsistent to say the least all season long, but against the Texans he could be fantasy gold. He has a lot more talent at the wide out position this season with Derrick Mason, who has been playing well as of late, and Anquan Boldin. The Texans have given up a league high 27 TDs through the air.

Kyle Orton – Josh McDaniels is out and there is a question as to whether or not the offense will remain the same. This is poor timing for those of you riding Orton and after his terrible outing last week. However, he has a good match up at Arizona and even if the team leans a little more on the run, Orton will have a good match up against the 25th ranked pass defense.

Peyton Hillis – Hillis will face Buffalo at just the right time for owners this season as he faces one of leagues worst run defenses. Hillis has been great against strong run defending teams so owners have to be salivating over the possible numbers that Hillis could put up.

LeGarrette Blount – Blount had slowly taken more and more touches from Carnell Williams in each game, and though he won’t see many check downs, he will be the bell cow for the team here in the stretch. Blount has a positive match up against a reeling Washington Redskins who have just lost a large presence in the middle with Albert Haynesworth being suspended for the rest of the season.

Knowshon Moreno – Moreno has been on a tear as of late and with a change a the head coaching position the team may begin to lean i little more on the run. With a match up at the lowly Cardinals look for Moreno to cash in.

Calvin Johnson – Megatron’s match up against the Packers usually looks bad on paper, and though he will be without Shaun Hill or Matthew Stafford, Johnson has a great history against the Pack and rarely lets you down. Most people will run him regardless, but for those of you questioning it, unless you have a Roddy White or Dwayne Bowe to replace him Johnson is a good play.

Mike Wallace – Wallace is making a case for the number 1 receiver role in Pittsburgh and should continue to make that case this Sunday against the Bengals. He is currently tied for most receptions on the team at 41 and is showing that he can be more than just a deep threat.

Mike Williams (TB) – Williams has had one of the better rookie seasons thus far from a fantasy perspective and should look to continue that against a waffling Redskins team. Josh Freeman is making sure he gets the ball to Williams each game and Williams is showing that he is not going to hit the rookie wall. He grabbed 6 receptions for 68 yards and a TD against a strong Falcons defense.

Ben Watson – Watson had a 10 catch 100 yard game last week, and though he hasn’t been able to post consistent numbers this season he faces a Buffalo team that has struggled against tight ends all season long.

Brandon Pettirgrew – Pettigrew has been consistently involved in the offense this season and will be leaned on this week against Green Bay, who will likely look to blanket Calvin Johnson. Drew Stanton will struggle and will look to check down to Pettigrew as most inexperienced QBs will tend to do.
