For those of you who read my post-game Indy blog you will see my theme here as my new Superhero ‘the Spoiler’ has come to town dressed up in a Dallas Cowboy uniform. Well the spoiler is not happy about being in this role it will hopefully not be long until the Dallas Cowboys lose this role and again compete for playoff football in Dallas. I know one week at a time. This week has the ‘WOW’ Philadelphia Eagles traveling to Dallas to stay abreast with the New York Giants but in their way is a newly resurgent Dallas Cowboy football squad.
Dallas since Jason Garrett has taken over the helm have gone 3-1 and only a Roy Williams fumble away against the New Orleans Saints have potentially kept them away from being 4-0 since Garrett took over. As mentioned in my post-game blog, I am starting to wonder had they fired Phillips a few weeks earlier, maybe the Cowboys might of been in the hunt for a playoff run and not being my new superhero ‘the Spoiler’.
This game had trenches written all over it when the NFL was making its schedule, two teams with a ton of talent battling late in the season for what is probably playoff berths. We all know the Cowboys are not going to the playoffs but that does not mean they will not bring their ‘A’ game to the field this Sunday night to show the fans that win or lose we are going to give 150% and try to beat the Eagles on ‘our’ home turf.
We know a win will not come easy this Sunday as Dallas will be without wide receiver Dez Bryant who they have lost for the season but the way the running game has played under Garrett, look for that to continue and if the Cowboys can hold onto the time of possession and keep the Michael Vick show off the field they have a very legit chance at winning this football game. I know all the stars are going to have to align as the Eagles are playing some of their best football in years and the Eagles probably want to get back at Dallas for kicking them out of the playoff hunt last season also.
For the Cowboys to win they will have to contain Vick and I mean contain as Dallas will only go as far as their defense can contain Vick, how many times did I just say contain?, o.k, no more. If Vick has time to run, hold onto the ball or buy himself more and more time he will tear apart the Dallas ‘D’ who by the rank as one of the worst against the pass this season and we all know Vick has weapons so keep an eye on the Dallas secondary to stay close and throughout the entire play as just when you think Vick is down he pops up from no where and will find a wide open receiver who the Dallas secondary forgot all about as the play went on for 15 seconds.
These two teams will play again between now and the end of the season so there will be a chance for redemption for whomever comes out on top Sunday night. Dallas has their work cut out for them but a win is not out of the question so enjoy the game and as always come back often, comments, questions, concerns…..
