Warriors Lose; Fill in the Blanks

Before the Warriors lost last night in San Antonio, I was really tempted to write the game recap. Like I said, ‘before they lost.’
Because if there ever was a sure thing–besides Nicollette Sheridan in Rob Reiner’s classic film by the same name (“3,000 miles just to get laid. I really respect that.”)–it was that the Warriors were going to lose tonight to the Spurs.
The odds of the Warriors winning tonight were about the same as me telling my 6-year old child to go to bed, and have her say, “OK, Daddy, just let me brush my teeth first. Good night!” Literally, my head would explode if that happened. In the history of 6-year olds, that’s never happened.
So now that we’ve established that the world would implode before the Warriors beat the Spurs in San Antonio, it was really just a matter of filling in a few blanks. I could turn on TiVo, watch an episode of “House,” and be done with it.
So here we go:
The Warriors lost tonight to the Spurs, 111 to 94. Things were made much harder for a team that has now lost 25 straight times in San Antonio when Stephen Curry was injured early in the 2nd quarter.
It’s like a bad version of Mad Libs.
A 16-0 run in the first quarter by the Spurs had the Warriors down by 10 after the first quarter. The lead was up to 10 at the half and only got worse from there.
For the 2nd straight night, someone nobody has ever heard of was a big factor in beating the Warriors. Tiago Splitter scored 12 points and had 6 rebounds in only 24 minutes.
Tim Duncan finished with a double-double, scoring eight points, and hauling downs five boards. Okay, so it’s not fool-proof. If you had told me before the game that Duncan would have 8 points and 5 boards, I would have said, “So what, the Spurs still won easily.”
The Warriors were outscored grossly at the free throw line again, 13 to 8. (Look, when you do Mad Libs, certain words have to make it into the script: slimy, ear wax, toe nails, Ian Mahinmi, and gross, to name a few.)
Next up for the abysmal Warriors? The Heat. With Curry likely out of that one as well, looks like another night of “House.”
