The Baltimore Ravens came of a tough loss to a division rival last week. They’re now 8-4 trailing behind the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North. Now they have to travel to Houston to play the 5-7 Texans. This will be the second straight week the Ravens will be on national television. This time they’re on Monday night.
Offense: Edge Texans
The Texans have one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL. They have arguably one of the best quarterback to wide receiver combos in the NFL, Matt Schaub to Andre Johnson. They have the leading rusher in the entire league in Arian Foster. They’re ranked seventh overall in total offense. The Ravens have a good steady offense but this team can strike at any moment.
Defense: Edge Ravens
We all know the Ravens have one of the best defenses in the NFL but not many people know how bad the Texans are on defense. They’re Ranked 29th in the league in total sacks and defense. They give up the most passing yards out of any team. They give up 40% of third conversions while Baltimore only gives up 35%. The Ravens have to make sure they stop one guy on the Texans defense, Mario Williams. He has 8.5 sacks for the season and he’s by far their best defensive player.
Special teams: Edge Ravens
The Ravens have one of the best punting games in the NFL. If their offense doesn’t score, they pin their opponents offense back at their own end zone. The Ravens lead the league with punts inside the 20 yard line. Mix that with great special teams coverage allows the Ravens not to give up big plays on special teams.
Prediction: Ravens 28, Texans 20
The Texans can’t stop anybody on defense. They have a great offense but they have to be good on offense to stay in games. Both of these teams can still win their division. The Texans should be more desperate because if the Ravens don’t win their division they still make the playoffs in a wild card spot. The Texans’ only chance of getting in the playoffs would be to win the division. The Ravens step up in this game and remind people that they’re the best team in football despite losing last week.
