The all so important must win is upon us. The Raiders were in the same position last week and got the job done. Now it is on our Chargers to win a game and keep the post-season hopes alive. The Chargers are a much better team then the Chiefs and any team in the AFC West for that matter, but a slow start and several costly injuries have put our Bolts in a tough position. If the Chargers are unable to defeat the Chiefs on Sunday they will have lost both games this season to the Chiefs and the Raiders. This would be unfathumable for most Chargers fans.
The Chargers are 6-6 and the Chiefs are 8-5 with a Bolts victory we can climb to within one game of the division lead. The last three weeks of the season the Chiefs play the Rams, Titans, and Raiders. It’s not the toughest schedule but lets hope the Chiefs stumble somewhere along the road. The Chargers finish with the Niners, Bengals, and Broncos and quite frankly they will most likely have to win every game from here on out. Which they are very capable of doing. I have been projecting the Chargers to go 10-6 for most of the year now, and I still believe they will finish at 10-6 and make the playoffs.
On Sunday the Chiefs come to our house now. I can’t wait for this one. I will be attending this game and hopefully be doing a lot of touchdown push ups. It is still uncertain if Matt Cassel will play on Sunday. Although this is a blow to the Chiefs and Cassel has been playing well of late, it really doesn’t matter all that much if he plays or not. The Chiefs are the number one running team in the NFL and we all saw what happend last week. So this game comes down to one thing. Who gets control of the game and plays their tempo first. If the Chiefs get a lead and start running the ball on every play the Chargers defense cannot stop them, it will not be the outcome we are all hoping for. Dwayne Bowe is putting together a special season, even after being held to zero catches last week. It will be important to not give up the big play down field to Bowe while everyone is concentrating on the run so heavily.
Philip Rivers and the Chargers offense should be able to move up and down the field on the Chiefs defense. What will be the factor in the game is getting on the board early, hopefully on the first drive and getting in the end-zone while in the red zone. It would be nice to see more of Mathews this week or some at all, after it has been said he did not play last week due to his lack of pass blocking ability. Also it looks like Vincent Jackson will try to play Sunday. It would be nice to have him on the field with all the receiver issues, but I’m not sure if he will be very affective out there.
Weekly Prediction- Chargers 24 Chiefs 13
Season Prediction- 10-6 (AFC West Champs!)
