For many programs, a 5-4 record at this point in the season is a dream. Savannah State comes to mind immediately as they won the first game of the season and have currently lost 10 straight. Georgia Tech, on the other hand, probably could have at least two more wins. The yellow jackets have appeared competitive in many games this season, and in others, they have blown leads and lost. The matchup against Savannah State falls halfway: it was a blown lead, but a victory nonetheless. Georgia Tech was up at halftime 44-26 but was outscored in the second half 33-25 resulting in a 10 point victory. The bench did not score for GT and the leading scorers for Tech had 17 a piece. The starters played no less than 25 minutes each and GT minimized the turnovers. Perhaps the close game at the end is a matter of relaxed coaching. All things considered, this game was out of reach at the end. But slumping late in games has haunted Tech against a few teams this season, most recently UGA. Regardless, at this point in the season, a win is a win. But there are plenty of schedule fillers left on the season to help GT right the ship.
