Dallas keeps it close in loss to the Michael Vick Philadelphia Eagles

I am sure we all know by now that the Sunday nighter had the Philadelphia Eagles come into Dallas and beat the Dallas Cowboys 30-27.  Philly sits at 9-4 and depending on what goes on with tonights re-scheduled game against the Giants and Vikings, Philly sits in a good position to make the post-season this year.  Dallas on the other hand sits at 4-9 and for the first time since 2004 will end the season under .500.   Something that does not sit well with Cowboy management and or any Dallas Cowboy fan and especially this blogger.  Everyone had much better anticipations for this years Cowboy squad.

Yesterday’s game was exciting, oh boy was it.  I like many of you probably thought Philly was going to walk away with it when they scored within the first 4 minutes of the game but Dallas prevailed that drive with a drive of their own and Dallas even led 20-14 at one point in the game.  It was all but forgotten as Philly came back with 13 fourth quarter points and came away with the victory.  Dallas did cover if you had 3.5 points and bet on the Boys.

Some positive that came from yesterday’s game was Dallas was able to move the ball offensively and Kitna was seeing the field well.   I think the one turning point was Kitna’s interception which maybe sealed it for the Eagles, kind of took the air out of the Cowboys who were fighting the entire game but you readers can let me know where you think the turning point was.  Albeit Kitna is 38 years old, he is showing that he is a quality back-up in the NFL and can lead a team from a back-up perspective to some wins and not throw in the towel at all which is nice to see.  The Cowboys and Kitna were able to make some big yards off the short pass theme and well Kitna maybe does not have the arm Vick does he was able to produce some good drives and some semi-deep passes to his receivers albeit most of his yards were from the less than 10 yard range.  The running game boded o.k for the Cowboys which is tough against a big Eagle offensive line.

Defensively the Cowboys still gave up some big plays whether it be Vick’s 60+ yard throw in the air or the short pass which resulted in a 91 yard TD for the Eagles, it comes down to making the best out of initial contact with the offender until help arrives and in these two cases help did not arrive or if it did, it was too late.    But the Cowboy defense did produce 2 INT’s, hurried, rushed Vick and sacked him twice so I can bet Vick is not looking forward to seeing this same Cowboy defense in 3 weeks in Philly.  Certainly giving up 13 points in any 4th quarter is not something any defence would be proud of.  As per my pre-game blog, the Cowboys did keep Vick in check and contained him better than most teams have thus far this season.  I know final result was a loss so contain or not, Eagles came away with the ‘W’.

The Jason Garrett chapter is still alive in Dallas nation and well we play out the remainder of this NFL season we will as we do try to figure out ways to make the Dallas Cowboys a better football team and until than we stay loyal and go Cowboys GO!!!!!.

as always comments, questions, concerns……keep the faith, Washington is coming to town…
