The Ravens had the lead for the entire game until Matt Schaub hit Jacoby Jones for a two-point conversion after a five yard touchdown from Andre Johnson to tie the game, 28-28, with seconds to spare.
The Ravens won the coin toss and chose to receive the ball. They weren’t able to get into field goal position to win the game so they had no choice but to punt the ball to the Texans offense.
On second down, the Ravens get great pressure to force Schaub to make a mistake. Schaub threw a pass on his back foot and across his body. The pass didn’t have enough life to get to Kevin Walter and was picked of by Josh Wilson for the game wining pick six.
The Ravens win 34-28 and improve to 9-4 while the Texans fall to 5-8.
The Ravens had a commanding lead right before halftime. That’s when Matt Schaub hit Andre Johnson for a 46 yard touchdown pass with 42 seconds to go. The Ravens go into halftime up 21-7.
The Ravens special teams stepped up big in the second half. The only points that were scored in the second half by the Ravens was a 103 yard opening kickoff return from David Reed. The Ravens go into the fourth quarter up 28-13. The fourth quarter was all Texans’ offense.
Sam Koch had two great punts for the Ravens. One at the begging of the fourth quarter were he pinned the Texans offense at their own one yard line. However, the Ravens offense couldn’t stop the Texans offense. They drove the ball 99 yards for a touchdown to make 28-20.
The second one was in overtime where he pinned the Texans offense at their own nine yard line after the Ravens couldn’t get anything going on offense. The bad field positioning put more pressure on Schaub to get rid of the ball because if he’s not careful he could get sacked for a safety. Instead, he threw a careless ball right in to Wilson hands for an easy pick six.
The Ravens have three more games until playoffs. It doesn’t get any easier next week for the Ravens when they have to host another high powered offense in the New Orleans Saints. They’re 10-3 on the season.
