As the snow starts to fall on the east coast, it brings us to this week’s What It Means:
The Fact That I’m Even Writing This Article: Golf used to have an offseason, called by some the silly season, where there were a bunch of fun events for some nice sums of money money. If you didn’t play in those, you took a vacation and or ready for the next year. Not anymore. From Tiger’s event being for World Ranking points to the European Tour starting their 2011 season in 2010 (Pablo Martin is your champion in tourney #1), golf seemingly never ends and before you know it, we’ll be starting the 2011 PGA Tour season in Hawaii.
Stuart Appleby Winning the PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year Award: I actually thought that Rocco Mediate was going to win this award from his out-of-nowhere victory at the Frys.com Open in the Fall Series, but Stuart Appleby won it. Appleby won twice in 2010 — first at The Greenbrier after shooting 59 and then in November in Australia at the JBWere Masters. I guess in the end, it’s hard to fault someone who shot 59, huh?
Coming up in the next couple weeks: my PGA Tour 2011 Preview.
