Titans Try To End Losing Streak Against Texans

The offense finally broke out of its shell against the Colts last Thursday night, unfortunately they were already 21 points behind.  The defense stepped up their play in the second half, holding the Colts to only 3 field goals while the Titans came up short in the 30-28 loss.  If there are key things to take away from this loss it is this; the Titans found their stride on offense and the defense played great in the second half.  So, can the Titans second half play against the Colts carry over to the entire game against the Texans?

The Texans are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Ravens on Monday Night Football so it will be interesting if they will have a “disappointment” hangover or be highly motivated as they come to Nashville.  Both teams are virtually out of the playoff picture so a lot of focus will be on Andre Johnson vs. Cortland Finnegan 2, Don King might be the special 12th man guest at LP Field to promote this blockbuster fight.  Ric Flair obviously didn’t fulfill his 12th man duties last week against the Colts.

The Titans defense will have to play as solid as they did in the second half against the Colts, the Texans are sixth in total offense and they actually have a fantastic running game, unlike Indy.  Arian Foster has been consistent all season and the Titans of all teams should know, Foster rushed for 143 yards on Tennessee in week 12.  With Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson, and Arian Foster there will be more skilled offensive weapons to defend.

I will look for the Titans to continue to get Chris Johnson his touches, especially since the Texans placed Mario Williams on the injured reserve list with a sports hernia.  With the Texans best pass rusher out for the season look for Kerry Collins to have more time in the passing game, but will he pass the ball to Randy Moss?  Moss has to be on the field for Collins to actually throw the ball to him and the coaching staff can’t seem to find a way to put Randy and Kenny Britt on the field at the same time.  That is what Titans fans want, playmakers on the field making plays to help the team win.

This matchup between the Texans and Titans will be more competitive than the 20-0 win by Houston back in week 12.  I look for a back and forth battle and give the advantage to the Titans due to the extra rest and the Texans devastating loss.
