Another Dominating Performance

After ripping apart the Chiefs last week, the Chargers came out and gave another dominating performance on prime time against the playoff hopeful Niners.  The Chargers did not quite match the dominating stats of the Chiefs win the week before but they sure came close.  At some points in the game it looked like deja vu. I think the Chargers played better against the Chiefs, while the Niners did more to hurt themselves.  If it wasn’t for a late meaningless touchdown, the Chargers would have had back to back shutouts, which does not happen often in this day and age of the NFL.  The Chargers defense has been playing really well the last few weeks, against the run and the pass.  When the Chargers face an offense that does not have a pro bowl caliber QB it can really get ugly for their opponents.  Against Alex Smith and Brodie Croyle the last couple weeks the Chargers have given up just 16 first downs and 213 yards passing combined.  While the Chargers offense has achieved 49 first downs and 499 yards passing.  Unfortunately stats and dominating performances don’t get teams into the playoffs, your record at the end of the season obviously does.

It was not a good Sunday for the Chargers playoff hopes.  The Chiefs and Jets both won games that I thought for sure the would loose.  While watching the Chiefs VS. Rams game on Sunday I thought it was crazy just how much better our Bolts were then these two teams, but the Chargers might be sitting at home while both of these teams play in the playoffs.  I don’t think anyone would argue that the Chargers are one of the best teams in the league right now, and that is why it is so frustrating to think that this team will not make it into the playoffs without some serious help from the Titans and Raiders.  The good news is that the Titans and Raiders looked very good this week.  The bad news is that the Chiefs play their last two games at home, and the Chiefs are very tough to beat at home.                                                                                                    It can happen, anything can happen in the NFL!        [1]
