Why Becks needs to be loaned out (permanently) to England/Italy/Spain: He’s better off returning to the European stage.

Well, he’s one of the most successful European footballers of all time.  I realize that he’s helping spread the game here in the states but there comes a time when you have to close a chapter of your life.  Not only do I think Becks should seek a temporary loan to England/Italy in January but I think he should call it quits in the MLS.  The MLS is still a subpar league.  I’m a huge fan of it but it’s still years behind where it needs to be and I’m worried about its potential given this country’s obsession with American football.  I’m not trying to bash the up-and-coming US league but it still pales in comparison to European football.  He won’t improve his skills in the MLS (especially in the US) and will not impress Fabio Capello (England’s manager) with his so-called “resting” here in LA.  If he wants to play in Brasil in 2014, he needs to continue to sharpen his skills.  Beckham is entering the final season of his five-year, $32.5 million contract.  He could make this type of money in Europe while also showing the English people/coaches he still has the skills to be a part of the national team.

Becks has basically ruled out a move to any Premier League side besides his former team, the ManU Red Devils.  The LA Galaxy midfielder has signed for AC Milan on loan the past two seasons but his services will not be needed this transfer season. It’s also worth noting the Rossonieri are close to signing Antonio Cassano (former Real Madrid player) and currently playing with Serie A side Sampdoria.  However, the Brit has ruled out another loan to AC Milan.  However, as recently as yesterday, he’s expressed a strong desire to get back to Europe even though the Galaxy have reiterated that they don’t wish to send him anywhere on loan.  Nevertheless, he’s a high profile signing and holds the power card with his team in the US as far as decision making.  Sir David has not played in the EPL in 8 years and I believe it’s time for his return.  Wouldn’t it be great to see him in that ManU kit again?  If not, other places in Europe like Italy, Spain, Turkey, etc could be viable options.

Beckham has made 115 appearances for the English national team and wants desperately to get back in the pool.  He’s been in good favor with Capello when he’s healthy but it’s certain that Capello would openly welcome his permanent return to European footballing.  The 35yr old has been a bit banged up over the last couple of years but claims he’s as fit as ever.  The Galaxy would rather have him not go out on loan due to the threat of injuries but they would be willing to abide by his request if they had a better chance in retaining him after his contract is up.  The former Real Madrid man also declined an Everton offer declaring it would be a slap in the face to his time spent at Old Trafford.  Earlier in the fall, Besiktas from Turkey was said to have been expressing serious interest.  Would becks play in turkey?  I don’t think so but Guti has had some recent success with that club and is loving life there in his 1st year away from Real Madrid.

Becks has been a great ambassador and promoter for the England national team.  He was crushed when they lost their World Cup bid to Russia and are said to be a backup for both 2014 and 2018 should things go awry.  I’m not denying he has great interpersonal skills, marketability and a model/singer wife to live a nice life outside of the pitch and help the game here in the US, but I don’t think the hype surrounding his initial arrival was justified.  For LA to have Landy cakes and Becks on the same time and not win this past season’s MLS cup was a bit disgraceful but his overall career was brilliant and I look for him to wrap it up back in his home country (both this MLS off-season and after).  His advocacy for putting England on a world class level with footballing should never be overlooked.

Can Becks make his way back as a full time member of the British squad?
