Atlanta’s Christmas present – a 2 game winning streak

Just writing this as the Hawks finish off the Cavs. Right now it’s 96-84 with about two minutes to go, and I have a couple of quick points:

#1) Al Horford should definitely get an All-Star berth. The guy has a fantastic stretch the past week, and he continued it with 18 points. The game wrapped up while I tried to find a current box. While I was doing that, Bob Rathbun on SportsSouth (not to be confused with Fox SportsSouth) named him the Star of the Game. It’s a final. Hawks win 98-84. Joe Johnson finished with 23 and Josh Smith pitched in 16 points and 11 rebounds. M. Williams had 35 POINTS! (Okay, I’m having fun. Marvin had 17, while Mo of the Cavs had 18).

#2) Continuing trends. Atlanta has won 8 in a row at home. The last loss was Nov. 22 against Boston. An impressive streak, but those teams beaten: Washington, Memphis, Philly, Nets, Pacers, Bobcats, Orlando, Cavs. Only one has a realistic shot of making the playoffs and Orlando took dynamite to the roster shortly before the game. The streak should continue into the new year as Atlanta hosts Golden State and Indiana before entertaining the Bucks Jan. 11 (The day after Oregon – Auburn).

#3) The Cavs have won only once this entire month! Their ten game losing streak is over, but it’s the first time a team lost 10 straight a year after winning 60. Obviously this is not the same team as it was last year.

#4) Larry Brown is no longer the coach of Charlotte. How long until he becomes the coach of somebody else (either NCAA or NBA)? I’ll put it at 135 days.
#5) Saw a note on AJC.com that it is ’100%’ that Georgia WR A.J. Green will forego his senior year and go to the NFL. Doesn’t he know there will be a lockout? Maybe he has a lot of signed jerseys that have to be moved.

#6) The NBA All-Star Game is in Los Angeles on February 20. I really want to get a press pass and blog from the Staples Center. Does anyone have any idea how I would go about getting the credential? Anyone?

That’s all for me. Merry Christmas, everyone. (if you don’t celebrate Christmas, a nice, generic Happy Holidays).
