Don’t look now….but here come the New York Islanders again on a one-game winning streak.

Trailing in the game and being heavily outshot, the Islanders rallied for a 2-1 win Wednesday night on Long Island over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

P.A. Parenteau notched the tying goal :17 remaining before the second intermission, while teammate John Tavares tallied the winner 3:23 in OT, as New York won for just the third time in nearly a month. It was New York’s first win of the season when it had not scored first.

“We’ve given up enough leads and enough opportunities to close out games. It was nice for us to step up,” Tavares told the Associated Press afterwards.

Back in the nets, goalie Dwayne Roloson tallied 34 saves, as the Islanders scored their second winning in three meetings this season with the Lightning. Roloson got the start after goalie Rick DiPietro was placed on the injured list with swelling in his left knee following surgery.

“The last three games have been something to build on,” Tavares continued on. “We’ve just got to make sure we keep focused on that. We can’t get complacent at all. We know how tough it’s been for us the last month and a half. We have to move forward and get something going.”

New York, which was outshot 35-28 by Tampa Bay, has notched five of six possible points in the last three games, tying cross-town rival New Jersey with 20 points.

The two will skate Thursday night at the Prudential Center in an Atlantic Division contest.
